The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim 1 Do people think that they are left alone by saying: 'We are believers' and will not be tried? 2 And assuredly We have tempted those who were before them. So Allah will surely know those who are true and He will surely know the liars. 3 Or those who do evil deeds think that they can outstrip Us (i.e. escape Our Punishment)? Evil is that which they judge! 4 Whoever hopes to meet Allah, the term appointed by Allah will then most surely come; and He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 5 Whosoever strives (in the cause of Allah) does so to his own good. Surely Allah stands in no need of anyone in the whole Universe. 6 as for those who have faith and do good works, We shall certainly cleanse them of their evil deeds and reward them according to the best of their actions. 7 And We have enjoined upon man goodness to parents. But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me is your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do. 8 And those who accepted faith and did good deeds – We shall indeed include them among the virtuous. 9 And some people say, “We believe in Allah” – so if they are afflicted with some adversity in Allah’s way, they consider the chaos created by men as the punishment from Allah; and if the help comes from your Lord, they will surely say, “Indeed we were with you”; does not Allah well know what is in the hearts of the entire creation? 10 God surely knows the believers, and He knows the hypocrites. 11 Those who deny say to those who affirm: "Follow our way; we shall carry the burden of your sins." But they cannot carry the burden of their sins in the least. They are liars indeed. 12 And most certainly they shall carry their own burdens, and other burdens with their own burdens, and most certainly they shall be questioned on the resurrection day as to what they forged. 13
