And assuredly We sent Nuh unto his people. Then he tarried among them for a thousand years, save fifty years; and then deluge overtook them, while they were wrong-doers. 14 But We saved him and the companions of the Ark, and We made the (Ark) a Sign for all peoples! 15 And Abraham, [too, was inspired by Us] when he said unto his people: "Worship God, and be conscious of Him: this is the best for you, if you but knew it! 16 You worship idols besides God and fabricate falsehoods. Those whom you worship besides God have no power to provide sustenance for you. So seek your sustenance from God and worship Him and be grateful to Him, for to Him you shall return. 17 If you, (pagans), call our (revelations) lies, certainly many generations living before you have also done the same thing. The duty of a Messenger is only to preach clearly. 18 See they not how Allah originates creation, then repeats it. Verily, that is easy for Allah. 19 Say: Travel in the earth and see how He makes the first creation, then Allah creates the latter creation; surely Allah has power over all things. 20 Punish whom He will, and have mercy on whom He please. And to Him will you be brought back in the end. 21 You cannot defeat His purpose on earth or in heaven; nor have you any friend or helper besides God." 22
