We sent Noah to his people, and he lived with them a thousand years minus fifty. Then they were caught by the deluge for they were evil. 14 And We rescued him and the people aboard the ship, and made the ship a sign for the entire world. 15 And Abraham, [too, was inspired by Us] when he said unto his people: "Worship God, and be conscious of Him: this is the best for you, if you but knew it! 16 You only serve, apart from God, idols and you create a calumny; those you serve, apart from God, have no power to provide for you. So seek after your provision with God, and serve Him, and be thankful to Him; unto Him you shall be returned. 17 If you, (pagans), call our (revelations) lies, certainly many generations living before you have also done the same thing. The duty of a Messenger is only to preach clearly. 18 Do they not see how God originates creation, then reverts it back? This is indeed how inevitably the law of God works; 19 Say: “Go about the earth and see how He created for the first time, and then Allah will recreate life.” Surely, Allah has power over everything. 20 He punishes whom He wills and has mercy upon whom He wills, and to Him you will be returned. 21 And you shall not escape in the earth nor in the heaven, and you have neither a protector nor a helper besides Allah. 22
