The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim 1 The Romans have been defeated 2 In the neighbouring land. But having been conquered they will conquer 3 Within three to nine years. To Allah belongs the command before and after. And that day the believers will rejoice 4 In Allah's help to victory. He helpeth to victory whom He will. He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 5 [This is] God's promise. Never does God fail to fulfill His promise - but most people know [it] not: 6 They know only some appearance of the life of the world, and are heedless of the Hereafter. 7 Have they never thought to themselves that Allah did not create the heavens and the earth and all that is between except with truth, and for a stated term? Yet most people disbelieve that they will ever meet their Lord. 8 Have they not travelled through the land and seen what end their predecessors met? They were mightier than them: they cultivated the earth more and built more upon it than these have ever built. Their own messengers also came to them with clear signs: God did not wrong them; they wronged themselves. 9 Then the end of those who did evil was the worst [consequence] because they denied the signs of Allah and used to ridicule them. 10
