The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ A. L. M. 1 The Byzantians have been overcome. 2 In a land close by; but they, (even) after (this) defeat of theirs, will soon be victorious- 3 Within ten years - Allah's is the command in the former case and in the latter - and in that day believers will rejoice 4 at the victory granted by Allah. He grants victory to whomsoever He pleases. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Compassionate. 5 (This is) Allah's promise! Allah will not fail His promise, but most people do not know. 6 They only know the superficial realities of the worldly life and they are unaware of the life to come. 7 Have they never learned to think for themselves? God has not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without [an inner] truth and a term set [by Him]: and yet, behold, there are many people who stubbornly deny the truth that they are destined to meet their Sustainer! 8 What, have they not journeyed in the land and beheld how was the end of those before them? They were stronger than themselves in might, and they ploughed up the earth and cultivated it more than they themselves have cultivated it; and their Messengers came to them with the clear signs; and God would never wrong them, but themselves they wronged. 9 Then evil was the end of those who did evil, because they rejected the communications of Allah and used to mock them. 10
