The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 The Byzantians have been overcome. 2 In a nearer land; and they, after the overcoming of them, shall soon overcome. 3 Within a few years. With Allah is the Decision, in the past and in the Future: on that Day shall the Believers rejoice- 4 with the help of God. He helps whom He pleases: He is the Mighty, and the Merciful. 5 It is a promise of God; and God does not go back on His promise. Yet most men do not understand: 6 They know the outward of this world's life, but of the hereafter they are absolutely heedless. 7 Have they not thought that God has not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them but for a genuine purpose to exist for an appointed term? Many people do not believe in their meeting with their Lord. 8 Have they not travelled through the land and seen what end their predecessors met? They were mightier than them: they cultivated the earth more and built more upon it than these have ever built. Their own messengers also came to them with clear signs: God did not wrong them; they wronged themselves. 9 Evil was the end of the harmdoers, because they belied the verses of Allah and mocked at them. 10
