The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim. 1 The Romans are vanquished, 2 in the nearer part of the land; and, after their vanquishing, they shall be the victors 3 Within a few years. Allah's is the command before and after; and on that day the believers shall rejoice, 4 In Allah's help to victory. He helpeth to victory whom He will. He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 5 The promise of Allah; Allah does not renege on His promise, but most people do not know. 6 They know but the outer (things) in the life of this world: but of the End of things they are heedless. 7 Ponder they not in their minds: Allah hath not created the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain save with a purpose and for a term appointed? And verily many men in the meeting of their Lord are unbelievers. 8 Have they not travelled in the land and seen the nature of the consequence for those who were before them? They were stronger than these in power, and they dug the earth and built upon it more than these have built. Messengers of their own came unto them with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty). Surely Allah wronged them not, but they did wrong themselves. 9 The end of the evil-doers was terrible, for they had rejected the revelations of God and mocked them. 10
