The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim. 1 The Byzantians have been overcome. 2 In a land close by; but they, (even) after (this) defeat of theirs, will soon be victorious- 3 in a few years. All power belongs to Allah both before and after. On that day will the believers rejoice 4 in the victory of Allah. Allah gives victory to whosoever He will, and He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 5 It is a promise of Allah. Allah faileth not His promise, but most of mankind know not. 6 They know only the outward appearance of the life of the world, and they! of the Hereafter, they are neglecetful. 7 Have they not pondered upon themselves? Allah created not the heavens and the earth, and that which is between them, save with truth and for a destined end. But truly many of mankind are disbelievers in the meeting with their Lord. 8 Have they not travelled through the land and seen what end their predecessors met? They were mightier than them: they cultivated the earth more and built more upon it than these have ever built. Their own messengers also came to them with clear signs: God did not wrong them; they wronged themselves. 9 In the long run evil in the extreme will be the End of those who do evil; for that they rejected the Signs of Allah, and held them up to ridicule. 10
