The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ AlifLaamMeem. 1 The Byzantians have been overcome. 2 In a land close by; but they, (even) after (this) defeat of theirs, will soon be victorious- 3 All matters of the past and future are in the hands of God. The believers will enjoy the help of God on that Day. 4 In the help of God. He helps whom He will; He is all-mighty, ever-merciful. 5 [This is] God's promise. Never does God fail to fulfil His promise -- but most people do not know this; 6 People simply know the outward aspect of the worldly life but are utterly heedless of the Hereafter. 7 Do they not reflect within themselves: Allah did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them two but with truth, and (for) an appointed term? And most surely most of the people are deniers of the meeting of their Lord. 8 Have they not travelled through the land and seen what end their predecessors met? They were mightier than them: they cultivated the earth more and built more upon it than these have ever built. Their own messengers also came to them with clear signs: God did not wrong them; they wronged themselves. 9 Evil was the end of the harmdoers, because they belied the verses of Allah and mocked at them. 10
