The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif, Lam, Meem. 1 The Romans have been conquered 2 In a near land, and they, after being vanquished, shall overcome, 3 Within a few years. With Allah is the Decision, in the past and in the Future: on that Day shall the Believers rejoice- 4 in God's succour: [for] He gives succour to whomever He wills, since He alone is almighty, a dispenser of grace. 5 [This is] God's promise. Never does God fail to fulfil His promise -- but most people do not know this; 6 They know an outward part of this life, but of the Everlasting Life they are inattentive. 7 Do they not reflect on themselves? Allah created the heavens and the earth and whatever lies between them in Truth and for an appointed term. Yet many people deny that they will meet their Lord. 8 Have they not travelled in the land and seen the nature of the consequence for those who were before them? They were stronger than these in power, and they dug the earth and built upon it more than these have built. Messengers of their own came unto them with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty). Surely Allah wronged them not, but they did wrong themselves. 9 Evil was the end of those evil-doers, for they gave the lie to Allah's Signs and scoffed at them. 10
