The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 Defeated have been the Byzantines 2 In a nearer land; and they, after the overcoming of them, shall soon overcome. 3 Within ten years - Allah's is the command in the former case and in the latter - and in that day believers will rejoice 4 In the help of God. He helps whom He will; He is all-mighty, ever-merciful. 5 [This is] God's promise. Never does God fail to fulfil His promise -- but most people do not know this; 6 They know only the outward appearance of the life of the world, and they! of the Hereafter, they are neglecetful. 7 Have they not inwardly pondered – that Allah has not created the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, except with truth and a fixed term? And indeed many people deny the meeting with their Lord. 8 Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those before them? They were superior to them in strength: they tilled the soil and populated it in greater numbers than these have done: there came to them their messengers with Clear (Signs). (Which they rejected, to their own destruction): It was not Allah Who wronged them, but they wronged their own souls. 9 Evil was the end of the harmdoers, because they belied the verses of Allah and mocked at them. 10
