The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ALIF LAM MIM. 1 The Byzantians have been overcome. 2 In the nearer land, and they, after their defeat will be victorious 3 All matters of the past and future are in the hands of God. The believers will enjoy the help of God on that Day. 4 With the help of Allah; He helps whom He pleases; and He is the Mighty, the Merciful; 5 The promise of God! God fails not His promise, but most men do not know it. 6 They know only the visible worldly life; and are totally neglectful of the Hereafter. 7 What, have they not considered within themselves? God created not the heavens and the earth, and what between them is, save with the truth and a stated term; yet most men disbelieve in the encounter with their Lord. 8 Do they not travel in the land, and see what was the end of those before them? They were superior to them in strength, and they tilled the earth and populated it in greater numbers than these (pagans) have done, and there came to them their Messengers with clear proofs. Surely, Allah wronged them not, but they used to wrong themselves. 9 The end of the evil-doers was terrible, for they had rejected the revelations of God and mocked them. 10
