The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ ALIF LAM MIM. 1 The Romans are vanquished, 2 In the nearest land. But they, after their defeat, will overcome. 3 In a few years (less than ten). God's is the imperative first and last. On that day the believers will rejoice 4 with the help of God. He helps whom He pleases: He is the Mighty, and the Merciful. 5 This is Allah's promise; and Allah faileth not His promise. Yet most men know not. 6 They only know the superficial realities of the worldly life and they are unaware of the life to come. 7 Have they not thought that God has not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them but for a genuine purpose to exist for an appointed term? Many people do not believe in their meeting with their Lord. 8 Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed the earth and built it up more than they have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allah would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves. 9 In the long run evil in the extreme will be the End of those who do evil; for that they rejected the Signs of Allah, and held them up to ridicule. 10
