Evil has become rife on the land and at sea because of men's deeds; this in order that He may cause them to have a taste of some of their deeds; perhaps they will turn back (from evil). 41 Say: Travel in the land, then see how was the end of those before; most of them were polytheists. 42 Then turn thy face straight to the right religion before there come from Allah the day which cannot be averted; on that day they shall become separated. 43 Whoever disbelieves, then the calamity of his disbelief is only on him; and those who do good deeds, are preparing for themselves. 44 God will reward the righteously striving believers through His favor. He does not love the unbelievers. 45 Among His signs are the breezes He sends as harbingers of happy news, so that He may allow you to taste of His mercy, and that ships may sail by His command, and you may seek of His bounty, and may haply be grateful. 46 And indeed We sent several Noble Messengers before you, to their nations – so they came to them with clear signs – We therefore took revenge from the guilty; and it is incumbent upon Our mercy, to help the Muslims. 47 It is God who sends out the winds so that they raise the clouds. Then He spreads them in the sky as He wills and places them layer upon layer and you see the rain issuing forth from their midst. When He causes it to fall on whichever of His servants He pleases, behold! they rejoice; 48 And verily before that (rain), just before it was sent down upon them, they were in despair! 49 Look then at the effects of Allah's mercy: what wise He quickeneth the earth after the death thereof. Verily, He is the Quickener of the dead, and He is over everything Potent. 50 Yet if We send a wind and they see their harvest turn yellow, they will then begin to deny [Our favours]. 51 You cannot make the dead to listen nor the deaf hear the call when they have turned back and retreated, 52 Nor canst thou be a guide to the blind out of their error; thou canst make none to hear save those who believe in Our signs, and who have surrendered themselves. 53
