[Since they have become oblivious of God,] corruption has appeared on land and in the sea as an outcome of what men's hands have wrought: and so He will let them taste [the evil of] some of their doings, so that they might return [to the right path]. 41 Say, [O Muhammad], "Travel through the land and observe how was the end of those before. Most of them were associators [of others with Allah]. 42 So set your face towards the straight path before the day arrives from God which is irreversible. Men will be segregated on that day. 43 Whosoever disbelieveth, on him is his infidelity, and those who work righteously are preparing for themselves. 44 In order to reward those who believed and did good deeds, by His munificence; indeed He does not like the disbelievers. 45 And among His Signs is this, that He sends the winds as glad tidings, giving you a taste of His Mercy (i.e. rain), and that the ships may sail at His Command, and that you may seek of His Bounty, in order that you may be thankful. 46 Surely, We sent messengers before you to their own people, and they brought them clear signs. Then We took vengeance on the guilty. It was certainly Our duty to help the believers. 47 God is He that looses the winds, that stir up clouds; and He spreads them in heaven how He will, and shatters them; then thou seest the rain issuing out of the midst of them, and when He smites with it whomsoever of His servants He will, lo, they rejoice, 48 Although they were, before it was sent down upon them - before that, in despair. 49 So behold the marks of God's mercy, how He quickens the earth after it was dead; surely He is the quickener of the dead, and He is powerful over everything. 50 And if We sent a wind and they beheld it yellow, they verily would still continue in their disbelief. 51 You [Prophet] cannot make the dead hear and you cannot make the deaf hear your call when they turn their backs and leave; 52 Nor can you lead away the blind out of their error. You cannot make to hear any but those who believe in Our communications so they shall submit. 53
