Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Alif Lam Mim. 1 These are verses of the wise Book, 2 A guidance and a mercy for the doers of goodness, 3 for those who attend to their prayers and pay the zakat and who have firm faith in the Hereafter: 4 They follow the guidance of their Lord and they will have everlasting happiness. 5 And some people buy words of play, in order to mislead from Allah’s path, without knowledge; and to make it an article of mockery; for them is a disgraceful punishment. 6 And when Our signs are recited to such a man he turns away, waxing proud, as though he heard them not, and in his ears were heaviness; so give him good tidings of a painful chastisement. 7 [As against this,] verily, those who attain to faith and do righteous deeds shall have gardens of bliss, 8 therein to dwell forever -- God's promise in truth; and He is the All-mighty, the All-wise. 9 He has created the heavens without any pillars, that you see and has set on the earth firm mountains, lest it should shake with you. And He has scattered therein moving (living) creatures of all kinds. And We send down water (rain) from the sky, and We cause (plants) of every goodly kind to grow therein. 10 [All] this is God's creation: show Me, then, what others than He may have created! Nay, but the evildoers are obviously lost in error! 11
