Allah is Absolute, Owner of Praise. 12 (Remember) when Luqman counselled his son: "O son, do not associate any one with God. To associate others with God is a grievous wrong." 13 (And We have charged man concerning his parents -- his mother bore him in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning was in two years -- 'Be thankful to Me, and to thy parents; to Me is the homecoming. 14 But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them but accompany them in [this] world with appropriate kindness and follow the way of those who turn back to Me [in repentance]. Then to Me will be your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do. 15 [Luqman further said,] "O my son! Though it be but the weight of a grain of mustard seed and though it be hidden in a rock, or in the heavens or on the earth, God will bring it forth. Truly, God is the knower of all subtleties and He is aware. 16 "O my son! establish regular prayer, enjoin what is just, and forbid what is wrong: and bear with patient constancy whatever betide thee; for this is firmness (of purpose) in (the conduct of) affairs. 17 And turn not away thy cheek from men nor walk on the earth stultingly, verily Allah loveth not any vainglorious boaster. 18 "And be moderate in thy pace, and lower thy voice; for the harshest of sounds without doubt is the braying of the ass." 19
