Did you not see that the ship sails on the sea by Allah’s grace, so that He may show you some of His signs? Indeed in this are signs for every greatly enduring, grateful person. 31 For [thus it is with most men:] when the waves engulf them like shadows [of death,] they call unto God, sincere [at that moment] in their faith in Him alone; but as soon as He has brought them safe ashore, some of them stop half-way [between belief and unbelief]. Yet none could knowingly reject Our messages unless he be utterly perfidious, ingrate. 32 O mankind, fear your Lord and fear a Day when no father will avail his son, nor will a son avail his father at all. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth, so let not the worldly life delude you and be not deceived about Allah by the Deceiver. 33 Only God has the knowledge of the Hour. He sends rain from the heavens, and knows what is in the mothers' wombs. No one knows what he will do on the morrow; no one knows in what land he will die. Surely God knows and is cognisant. 34
