And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from it grain, and from it they eat. 33 And We have placed in it gardens of dates and grapes, and We have made springs of water in it. 34 so that they may eat of the fruit thereof, though it was not their hands that made it. Will they not, then, be grateful? 35 Glory be to Him, who created all the pairs of what the earth produces, and of themselves, and of what they know not. 36 And a sign for them is the night, We withdraw therefrom the day, and behold, they are in darkness. 37 And the sun runneth on unto a resting-place for him. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Wise. 38 And the moon! For it We have decreed mansions till it reverteth like the old branch of a palm-tree. 39 It behoves not the sun to overtake the moon, neither does the night outstrip the day, each swimming in a sky. 40 And [it ought to be] a sign for them that We bear their offspring [over the seas] in laden ships, 41 And We made similar vessels for them to ride. 42 We drown them if We will, then they have none to cry to, nor can they be saved, 43 unless it be by an act of mercy from Us and a grant of life for a [further span of] time. 44 And when it is said unto them: fear that which is before you and that which is behind you, that haply ye may find mercy, they withdraw. 45 Not a Sign comes to them from among the Signs of their Lord, but they turn away therefrom. 46 And when it is said to them: Spend out of what Allah has given you, those who disbelieve say to those who believe: Shall we feed him whom, if Allah please, He could feed? You are in naught but clear error. 47 They say, "When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?" 48 They await but one Shout, which will surprise them while they are disputing. 49 So they shall not be able to make a bequest, nor shall they return to their families. 50
