And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from it grain, and from it they eat. 33 And We make therein gardens of palms and grapevines and We make springs to flow forth in it, 34 So that they may eat of the fruit thereof, and their hands made it not. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Glory be to Him Who created pairs of all things, of what the earth grows, and of their kind and of what they do not know. 36 And the night is another Sign for them. We strip the day from it and they become plunged in darkness. 37 The sun runs to its fixed resting place; that is the decree of the Almighty, the Knower. 38 And the moon -- We have determined it by stations, till it returns like an aged palm-bough. 39 It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their offspring in the laden Ark (of Noah). 41 And have created for them of the like thereof whereon they ride. 42 And if We please, We can drown them, then there shall be no succorer for them, nor shall they be rescued 43 But (by) mercy from Us and for enjoyment till a time. 44 And [yet,] when they are told, "Beware of [God's insight into] all that lies open before you and all that is hidden from you, so that you might be graced with His mercy," [most men choose to remain deaf;] 45 Indeed, not one of your Lord's signs comes to them without their turning away from it, 46 And when it is said to them, "Spend from that which Allah has provided for you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Should we feed one whom, if Allah had willed, He would have fed? You are not but in clear error." 47 And they say: when will this promise be fulfilled if ye say sooth? 48 They wait not for aught but a single cry which will overtake them while they yet contend with one another. 49 So they shall not be able to make a bequest, nor shall they return to their families. 50
