And a sign to them is the dead earth: We give life to it and bring forth from it grain so they eat of it. 33 We have laid out gardens of dates and grapes upon it, and made springs of water flow, 34 so that they may eat of the fruit thereof, though it was not their hands that made it. Will they not, then, be grateful? 35 Holy is He Who created all things in pairs, whether it be of what the earth produces, and of themselves, and of what they do not know. 36 And a sign for them is the night; We strip it of the day and lo, they are in darkness. 37 And the sun runs his course for a period determined for him: that is the decree of (Him), the Exalted in Might, the All-Knowing. 38 We have ordained phases for the moon until finally it becomes like an old date-stalk. 39 It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor doth the night outstrip the day. They float each in an orbit. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their seed in the laden ship, 41 And We have created for them of the like thereunto, so on them they ride. 42 We could have drowned them if We pleased, and none would have answered their cry for help, nor would they have been saved, 43 But (by) mercy from Us and for enjoyment till a time. 44 When it is said to them: "Beware of what is before you and what is past, that you may be treated with kindness;" 45 And never came an Ayah from among the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord to them, but they did turn away from it. 46 And when it is said to them: “Spend (in the Way of Allah) out of the sustenance that Allah has provided you,” the unbelievers say to the believers: “Shall we feed him whom, Allah would have fed, had He so wished?” Say: “You are in evident error.” 47 And they say: When will this promise be fulfilled, if ye are truthful? 48 They wait not for aught but a single cry which will overtake them while they yet contend with one another. 49 They will have no time to make a will, nor shall they return to their own people. 50
