And a sign for them is the dead earth; We gave it life and We produced from it grain, so they eat from it. 33 And We placed therein gardens of palm trees and grapevines and caused to burst forth therefrom some springs - 34 That they may eat of the fruit thereof; and their hands worked it not. Will they not, therefore, give thanks? 35 All glory belongs to the One Who has created pairs out of what grow from the earth, out of their soul and out of that which they do not know. 36 And there is a sign in the night for them. We strip off the day from it and they are left in darkness, 37 The sun runs to its fixed resting place; that is the decree of the Almighty, the Knower. 38 And We have appointed positions for the moon till it returns like an old branch of the date palm. 39 It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor doth the night outstrip the day. They float each in an orbit. 40 And a token unto them is that We bear their offspring in the laden ship, 41 And We have created for them of the like thereunto whereon they ride. 42 and [that,] if such be Our will, We may cause them to drown, with none to respond to their cry for help: and [then] they cannot be saved, 43 Unless it be a mercy from Us, and as an enjoyment for a while. 44 When it is said to them: "Beware of what is before you and what is past, that you may be treated with kindness;" 45 yet never any sign of the signs of their Lord comes to them, but they are turning away from it. 46 And when it is said unto them: expend of that wherewith Allah hath provided you, those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: shall we feed those whom God Himself would have fed, if He listed? Ye are in naught else than error manifest. 47 They say: “When will this threat (of Resurrection) come to pass? Tell us if indeed you are truthful.” 48 They await just one scream, which will overcome them while they are involved in worldly disputes. 49 And they will not be able to make a disposition, nor to their family they return. 50
