The dead land is a sign for them. We revive it, and from it produce grain from which they eat. 33 We have placed in it gardens of date palms and vines, and caused springs to gush [forth] from it, 34 so that they may eat of the fruit thereof, though it was not their hands that made it. Will they not, then, be grateful? 35 Glory be to Him Who created pairs of all things, of what the earth grows, and of their kind and of what they do not know. 36 And there is a sign in the night for them. We strip off the day from it and they are left in darkness, 37 The sun is running its course to its appointed place. That is the ordaining of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing. 38 And the moon, We have measured for it mansions (to traverse) till it returns like the old dried curved date stalk. 39 [and] neither may the sun overtake the moon, nor can the night usurp the time of day, since all of them float through space [in accordance with Our laws]. 40 And a Sign for them is that We bore their race (through the Flood) in the loaded Ark; 41 and We have created for them the like of it whereon they ride; 42 We drown them if We will, then they have none to cry to, nor can they be saved, 43 except Our mercy which could enable them to enjoy themselves for an appointed time. 44 When they are told, "guard yourselves against what is before you and what is behind you, in order that you may be shown mercy," [they turn away]. 45 yet never any sign of the signs of their Lord comes to them, but they are turning away from it. 46 and when they are told, "Give to others out of what God has provided for you," those who are bent on denying the truth say to the believers, "Why should we feed those whom God could feed if He wanted? You are clearly in error!" 47 They also say: 'When will this promise be, if what you say is true' 48 They are awaiting only for one Cry to seize them while they are yet disputing, 49 So they shall not be able to make a bequest, nor shall they return to their families. 50
