The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER these [messages] ranged in serried ranks, 1 And those who drive away (the wicked) with reproof 2 By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Quran from Allah to mankind [Tafsir Ibn Kathir]. 3 Lo! thy Lord is surely One; 4 He is the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, the Lord of the Eastern regions. 5 We have adorned the lower heaven with the adornment of the stars 6 And have placed therein a guard against any satan froward. 7 These satans cannot listen to what transpires in the High Council for they are pelted away from every side 8 And kept far away. There is perpetual punishment for them, 9 Except one who sometimes steals a part, so a blazing flame goes after him. 10 So, ask those who deny the truth if it was harder to create them than all the other things We have created? We created them from sticky clay. 11 Yet while you are filled with wonder, they just scoff; 12 They pay no attention when they are reminded 13 When they see a sign, they laugh at it, 14 And they say, “This is nothing but clear magic.” 15 When we have become dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then verily be raised? 16 And our forefathers [as well]?" 17 Say, "Yes indeed, and you will be brought low." 18 It shall be but one shout, lo! they shall be staring. 19 They will say, "Ah! Woe to us! This is the Day of Judgment!" 20 'This is the Day of Decision, even that you cried lies to. 21
