In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO witness those who stand arrayed in rows, 1 by those who reprove severely, 2 and those who recite the Remembrance 3 Most surely your Allah is One: 4 Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all that is between them, and Lord of the sun's risings. 5 We have decked the lower heavens with stars 6 Protecting them against every wayward devil, 7 They cannot listen to the exalted assembly and they are thrown at from every side, 8 and are repelled. Theirs is an unceasing chastisement. 9 Except him who snatcheth away a word by stealth, and him then pursueth a glowing flame. 10 So ask them if they are more difficult to create, or the rest We have created? Indeed (man) We created from fermented clay. 11 Nay, but whereas thou dost marvel, they [only] scoff; 12 They pay no attention when they are reminded 13 And when they see a sign they incite one another to scoff, 14 And they say: This is nothing but clear magic: 15 “When we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, will we certainly be raised again?” 16 And also our forefathers? 17 Say: 'Yes, and in all lowliness.' 18 Then it will be a single (compelling) cry; and behold, they will begin to see! 19 And they shall say: O woe to us! this is the day of requital. 20 'This is the Day of Decision, even that you cried lies to. 21

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
