The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By those [angels] who range themselves in close ranks 1 by those who reprove severely, 2 By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Quran from Allah to mankind [Tafsir Ibn Kathir]. 3 Most surely your Allah is One: 4 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, and the Lord of the Easts. 5 Verily! We have adorned the near heaven with the stars (for beauty). 6 With security from every froward devil. 7 The devils cannot hear those high above. They would be struck from all sides 8 Outcast, and theirs is a constant (or painful) torment. 9 But if anyone does succeed in snatching a glimpse [of such knowledge], he shall be pursued by a piercing flame. 10 Then ask them whether they are stronger in creation or those (others) whom We have created. Surely We created them of firm clay. 11 Nay, but whereas thou dost marvel, they [only] scoff; 12 and when they are admonished, they pay no heed; 13 And when they behold a sign, they turn to scoffing. 14 And they say: "This is nothing but evident magic! 15 "When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we (then) verily be resurrected? 16 And also our forefathers? 17 Say: 'Yes, and in all lowliness.' 18 Then it will be a single (compelling) cry; and behold, they will begin to see! 19 And they shall say: O woe to us! this is the day of requital. 20 [They will be told], "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny." 21
