۞ Muster those who did evil, their wives, and that they were serving, 22 “Instead of Allah – and herd them to the path leading to hell.” 23 and halt them [there]!" [And then,] behold, they shall be asked, 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 And they will approach one another blaming each other. 27 These say, 'Why, you of old would come to us from the right hand.' 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes, 48 As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.). 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
