۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 “And stop them – they are to be questioned.” 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 In fact, on that day they will be submissive. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 They shall say: Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers; 29 We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people. 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 saying, 'What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?' 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty;- 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 And with them will be mates of modest gaze, most beautiful of eye, 48 As if they were eggs carefully protected. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade 51 who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 Then, are we not to die 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 then their return is to Hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
