۞ Muster those who did evil, their wives, and that they were serving, 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 [To which] the others will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were bereft of all faith! 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 for them awaits a known provision, 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 no headiness will be in it, and they will not get drunk thereon. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 He will look down and see him in hell. 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 and behold what happened in the end to those that had been warned [to no avail]! 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
