۞ But We shall say, "Assemble those who did wrong together with their associates and what they worshipped 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 And they will turn to one another, and question one another. 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray. 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 As such We shall deal with the evildoers. 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty;- 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 (A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?" 54 Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. 55 He will say to his friend in hell, "By God, you almost destroyed me. 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 They can only return to hell. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
