۞ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 How is it that you are not helping one another? 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people. 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 But the bondmen of Allah, the sincere ones 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 on couches facing each other. 44 Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, 45 clear, delightful to those who drink it: 46 There shall be no trouble in it, nor shall they be exhausted therewith. 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 It is a tree that grows from the bottom of Hell; 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 On top of it they shall have a brew of boiling water, 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 We had certainly sent warners to them. 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
