۞ But We shall say, "Assemble those who did wrong together with their associates and what they worshipped 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 you shall surely taste the painful punishment, 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 But the bondmen of Allah, the sincere ones 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring: 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
