۞ But We shall say, "Assemble those who did wrong together with their associates and what they worshipped 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 In fact, on that day they will be submissive. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 As such We shall deal with the evildoers. 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 In gardens of delight, 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine, 51 who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 Are we not then to die 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work. 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 It is a tree that grows from the bottom of Hell; 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 So had many an earlier people gone astray, 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
