۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 on couches facing each other. 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 But for my Lord's blessing, I were one of the arraigned. 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 “Except our earlier death, and nor will we be punished?” 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). 67 then their return is to Hell. 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
