۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 “And we did not have any control over you; but in fact you yourselves were rebellious.” 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 that is how We deal with evil-doers. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 Those! theirs shall be a provision known: 41 fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 on couches facing each other. 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine, 51 who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 But for my Lord's blessing, I were one of the arraigned. 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Verily, this - this indeed - is the triumph supreme!" 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.). 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 And indeed before them, most of the former people went astray. 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 and behold what happened in the end to those that had been warned [to no avail]! 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
