۞ Gather all the wicked together and their comrades, and those they had worshipped 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. 30 "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, 45 White, delicious to those who drink. 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine, 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
