۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand' 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people, 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray. 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance 35 And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?" 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 for them awaits a known provision, 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; 45 White, delicious to those who drink. 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 who was wont to ask [me,] 'Why - art thou really one of those who believe it to be true 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 Its spathes are like the heads of satans. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. 68 Surely they found their fathers going astray, 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
