۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 And they will turn to one another, and question one another. 27 They said, “It is you who used to come to us from our right, in order to sway.” 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 We mislead you and we ourselves had also gone astray." 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 For them is the sustenance known to Us. 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 He will look down and see him in hell. 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 What, do we then not die 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 They can only return to hell. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
