۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 And they will turn to one another, and question one another. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?" 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes, 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" 53 (A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?" 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 Had it not been for the grace of my Lord I too would have been there (in Hell). 57 Are we then not to die 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Verily, this - this indeed - is the triumph supreme!" 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 then their return is to Hell. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
