۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 “Instead of Allah – and herd them to the path leading to hell.” 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 In fact, on that day they will be submissive. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 Who used to say: 'Are you one of those who can testify to the truth? 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 They found their father going astray 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
