۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 So verily on that Day they all in the torment will be sharers. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 In gardens of delight, 43 on couches facing each other. 44 a goblet from a spring shall be passed round to them 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 And with them will be mates of modest gaze, most beautiful of eye, 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He will say to his friend in hell, "By God, you almost destroyed me. 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 Its spathes are like the heads of satans. 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
