۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” 22 “Instead of Allah and herd them to the path leading to hell.” 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 So this day they all are partners in the punishment. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness. 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 yet before them most of the ancients went astray, 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
