۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 “And you will not be compensated except for your deeds.” 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 In gardens of delight, 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 He will look down and see him in hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 What then, shall we not die 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 See how terrible was the end of those who were warned. 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
