۞ Muster those who did evil, their wives, and that they were serving, 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth). 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 In gardens of pleasure, 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 Like sheltered eggs in a nest. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 who was wont to ask [me,] 'Why - art thou really one of those who believe it to be true 52 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be recompensed?" 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 'By Allah' he will say, 'you almost destroyed me! 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 This is certainly the greatest triumph 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
