۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire 23 And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 These say, 'Why, you of old would come to us from the right hand.' 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 that is how We deal with evil-doers. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 But the bondmen of Allah, the sincere ones 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 White, delicious to those who drink. 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 As if they were eggs carefully protected. 49 And they will all turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 50 A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine, 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 He will say: -- Do you wish to know where he is now?' 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom). 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 Its spathes are like the heads of satans. 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 So had many an earlier people gone astray, 71 though We had sent among them warners. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
