۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 On couches facing one another; 44 Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 There shall be no trouble in it, nor shall they be exhausted therewith. 47 And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes, 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have appointed it as a trial for the evildoers. 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 We had certainly sent warners to them. 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 74
