۞ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 indeed, on that Day they will surrender themselves. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 “And you will not be compensated except for your deeds.” 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 Those! theirs shall be a provision known: 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. 48 Like sheltered eggs in a nest. 49 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be recompensed?" 53 (A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?" 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 We have appointed it as a trial for the evildoers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 (The people of Hell) will surely eat of it, filling their bellies with it. 66 Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
