۞ But We shall say, "Assemble those who did wrong together with their associates and what they worshipped 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth). 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 As such We shall deal with the evildoers. 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Nay: he has come with the truth and verified the apostles. 37 “You surely have to taste the painful punishment.” 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 clear, delightful to those who drink it: 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And with them will be mates of modest gaze, most beautiful of eye, 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 Who used to say: 'Are you one of those who can testify to the truth? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 though We had sent among them warners. 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
