۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people, 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In gardens of pleasure, 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom). 57 What, do we then not die 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
