۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 “Instead of Allah – and herd them to the path leading to hell.” 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 For them is the sustenance known to Us. 41 fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, 42 In Gardens of peace. 43 facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness. 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?" 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 On top of it they shall have a brew of boiling water, 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
